Medical History Record & Health Insurance

Medical History Record

All new students are required to complete the medical history record. The form is sent to you by International Student & Scholar Services along with your I-20. You will need to see your doctor to have the form completed and medical dates verified. It must be completed in English and emailed as a single, scanned PDF file to medicalrecords@bucknell.edu.

Please submit the completed form by July 1, or as close as possible. Even if incomplete, please do submit it. You can complete outstanding required tests or vaccines upon arrival.

We also recommend bringing the original medical record form with you, if there are any questions. A session is included during this program for you to meet with the Bucknell Student Health staff and to verify that Bucknell has your medical record.

For more information and/or questions regarding the Medical History Record, please contact medicalrecords@bucknell.edu.

Health Insurance

Students on a U.S. visa are required by the University to purchase health insurance.

Medical coverage is extremely expensive, and carrying medical insurance is very important, especially in the case of a serious illness and/or accident. For this reason, Bucknell has carefully chosen a plan that meets the needs of international students while they are studying at Bucknell.

You can expect to receive a bill for this plan along with your tuition statement. While domestic students have the option of waiving the Bucknell insurance if a member of their family already carries insurance, international students do not have permission to use any other plan other than the Bucknell plan.

U.S. students living abroad are strongly encouraged to consider buying Bucknell insurance. Lewisburg is serviced by a local hospital, Evangelical Community Hospital, and may not be familiar with insurance policies that are not local.

For the 2022-23 academic year, the estimated cost is $3,700 (subject to change). During GC3, you will learn more about health insurance and how important it is in the U.S. You are automatically enrolled in health insurance and do not need to take any steps to start that enrollment. We will help you gain access to your account and print an insurance card during GC3.
