Bucknell's residential learning environment is one of its most distinctive features. It's a source of intellectual stimulation, social interaction, friendship and personal support.
As an undergraduate student at Bucknell, you're guaranteed housing for all four years.
To help you make the most of your Bucknell experience, we do our best to honor your preferences when we assign your room. You can tell us about those preferences, along with your living style and habits, on the Academic Year 2021-2022 application in myHOME. After clicking the link, go to the Bucknell Student SSO login. Once logged in, select Housing & Meal Selection in the blue bar. There are many variables affecting roommate and room assignments, making us unable to meet every preference.

Floor or Hall Groups
As a first-year student, you will be assigned to live in one of two types of floor or hall group:
| Coed by alternating room | men in one room, women in the next, with separate bathrooms. |
| Single-gender hall group | men and women on distinct floors/wings with separate bathroom facilities. |
For those who identify as a man or a woman, housing assignments will be based on gender identity, if you have provided that information to Bucknell prior to June1. For those who chose not to enter gender identity information, we will house based on the sex marker indicated on your application.
If you have indicated that you identify in a way other than man or woman, a representative from the University will reach out to discuss housing assignment options. If there have been any changes to your gender identity, or you have concerns about receiving a housing assignment based on the information you have provided, please contact the director of LGBTQ Resources at lgbt@bucknell.edu or 570-577-3885 by June 9.
Residence Hall and Room Assignment
Your room assignment will be posted in mid-July in myHOME.
Residence hall assignments are made randomly within each class of students, except for those students participating in a special residential program such as a Residential College.
Most rooms are doubles. Others are triples, quads or singles. You will have an opportunity to indicate your preference for a type of housing assignment, but we cannot always meet everyone's preference.
First-year students are not able to submit roommate requests. In addition, first-year students from the same high school or hometown will not be assigned as roommates because learning to live with new acquaintances is an essential part of the residential learning experience.
Housing Accommodation Request
If you have a need for a housing accommodation based on a documented disability, complete the Housing Accommodation Request form and return it to the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) by June 9.

Before Completing the Housing Questionnaire
Residential Colleges
These themed first-year living-learning communities are a terrific way to begin your education at Bucknell. In a Residential College, you'll be housed with other students based on a common interest, such as the arts, social justice, humanities, the environment and more.
Together, you'll take a shared foundation seminar and participate in theme-related activities outside of the classroom. You sign up for a Residential College when you register for fall courses.
Foundation Seminar Groups
All students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences are required to take a foundation seminar during their first semester. Sometimes students enrolled in the same foundation seminar are housed together on a floor or in a hall group at the request of the professor, even if they are not members of a Residential College.
Housing Accommodation Requests
If you have a need for a housing accommodation based on a documented disability, complete the Housing Accommodation Request forms (both student and professional) and return them to the Office of Accessibility Resources by June 9.
