Critical engagement with issues of race, ethnicity, and gender is essential to an understanding of the world of the 21st century. The mission of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Gender (CSREG) at Bucknell University is to support faculty development, scholarship, and interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration on issues of race, ethnicity, and gender and their intersections with other aspects of difference.

The Center's support for faculty development and collaboration takes many forms, including colloquia, seminars, workshops, conferences, visiting scholar programs, working groups, reading groups, curriculum and research grants, travel funds and a library.

The Center also facilitates University-wide discussion of issues of race, ethnicity, and gender through events such as the annual Black Experiences Lecture and the Women's & Gender Studies Distinguished Lecture, and co-sponsored film series, lectures and other campus-wide events. The Center is comparative and international in scope and draws on a faculty whose research interests span the globe.

Reading Groups

The Center provides funds and support for both ongoing reading groups and groups associated with particular speakers or events.

A spring reading group, organized by Prof. Amy McCready (political science), discussed Our Bodies: Whose Property by Anne Phillips.
