Labs & Learning Spaces

From the traditional to the innovative, our labs and learning spaces make Bucknell one of the best colleges to study English.

Dig into our archives, hear a poetry reading in our historic recital hall, or apply cutting-edge techniques to age-old questions with our digital scholarship resources. The best part is that all of our spaces are open to undergraduate students. You don’t have to wait to get started.

Willard Smith Library, Vaughan Literature Building

This historic library is home to a portion of the department's book collection, and is the perfect space for classes, group collaboration, small events or simply to read in the prototypical library space.

    Bucknell Hall

Built in 1886, Bucknell Hall is an acoustically perfect venue for poetry and other readings, including readings by the Stadler and Philip Roth Fellows and members of the prestigious, annual Seminar for Undergraduate Poets. Its basement is home to the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts as well as West Branch literary magazine, both of which offer internships to English majors.

The Humanities Center, Hildreth-Mirza Hall

Located in the beautifully restored Hildreth-Mirza Hall, Bucknell's Humanities Center supports student and faculty research and takes the study of the humanities beyond the classroom through speakers, events and scholarship.

Hildreth Mirza Hall is also home to a digital editing studio, humanities library and the offices of Bucknell University Press and the Griot Institute for the Study of Black Lives & Cultures — both of which offer internship opportunities for Bucknell students.
