Drop/Add Information

**Waitlists will be purged on August 3, 2020. No students can be added to waitlists after this point.**

Students may make changes to their schedule by dropping classes and adding classes with open spaces without permission through the first week of classes. Instructor permission is required for closed courses and for ALL courses during the second week of classes. See Course Information for available courses.

All schedule changes must be processed before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020.

First-year (class of 2024) schedule changes:

First-year students will have access to their fall schedule in Banner Web starting August 5th. You will have the ability to make changes to your schedule by contacting the registrar’s office at 570.577.1201. You should discuss your proposed changes with your academic adviser before contacting the registrar’s office. Limited registrar staff will also be available in the registrar’s office 102 Marts Hall to assist with changes. If you are a remote student who is unable to contact the registrar's office during normal business hours you may email your schedule change request to registrar@bucknell.edu. Be sure to include your BU ID, the course you wish to drop and the CRN of the open course you would like to add.

Please note changes to foundation seminars, including residential colleges, may only be made with the approval of your academic dean.

Upperclass and Transfer students online drop/add:

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, August 10th – 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 21st, upperclass and transfer students will be able to add open courses online in Banner Web. Registration pins are not required. Access to closed courses will require instructor permission. Electronic overrides may be obtained by sending your BU ID number to the faculty member attached to the course. Email permission can be forwarded to registrar@bucknell.edu. Limited registrar staff will also be available in the registrar’s office 102 Marts Hall.
Upperclass and transfer students are strongly encouraged to complete their course changes online prior to the August 21st deadline.
 

Starting August 24th: In-person drop/add

8:30 a.m. Monday, August 24th – 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28th
Starting on Monday, August 24, 2020 all course additions require instructor permission and must be processed in person in the registrar’s office. Drop/Add forms are available outside 102 Marts Hall.

All schedule changes (including section changes) must be filed prior to 4:30 p.m. on August 28, 2020. Any changes made after this point may result in a “W” grade.

Underload/Overload Approvals

If you are dropping below 4 credits, you must secure permission from your adviser and associate dean for a course underload.
If you are going above 4.75 credits, you must secure permission from your adviser and associate dean for a course overload.
