Fraternity Recruitment

Fraternity life provides leadership opportunities, peer and alumni connections, and opportunities to make lifelong friendships. Potential new members interested in joining a fraternity should spend time learning about the values of each organization and meeting as many members in each chapter as possible.

The University has a deferred recruitment process, meaning that students cannot join a Greek-letter organization until at least their sophomore year. This process allows first-year students to engage with their academics, acclimate to the University and develop friendships with other Bucknellians prior to joining a Greek-letter organization. The one-year deferment also allows potential new members to make a more informed decision about whether fraternity life is the best choice for their Bucknell experience. For more information regarding fraternity recruitment and chapters, see the booklet below or email

Eligibility Requirements

  • Sophomore year or later 

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher*
