Feb. 8, 2013: Campus updates and campaign news

Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

Earlier this week, I was pleased to share some key campus updates with those attending Tuesday's faculty meeting and Wednesday's University forum; here I am summarizing those announcements, including for those who were not able to attend either meeting.

The top priority item I raised, in light of the recent SAT situation, was to stress that each of us has a responsibility to protect the integrity of the University. Should you encounter a situation in which you believe unethical behavior is happening at the University, please take one or more of the following steps:

  • Report your concerns to multiple people, including your supervisor, public safety, and the General Counsel, and to me if you believe it appropriate.
  • Consult with a Workplace Advisor.
  • Contact public safety anonymously.
  • Make an anonymous report to EthicsPoint, a third-party provider that brings your concerns to the University's attention without identifying you. You may call the EthicsPoint toll-free hotline and speak directly with a trained operator (1-866-384-4277) or file a report online at www.ethicspoint.com.

These resources are in place so that each of us can assure the University's integrity and avoid putting any faculty, staff, students or the University's reputation at risk. It is also worth stressing that the University will not enact retribution against you for reporting an ethical violation. There are in fact laws protecting whistle-blowers from retribution.

Thank you for all you do for our students and for Bucknell. Commencement 2013 is 100 days away!

Sincerely,

John
