The Department of Chemistry at Bucknell University invites you to Chemistry Camp, July 8-11, 2018.

This program is an academically challenging, hands-on introduction to the six fields of chemistry: organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, biochemistry and environmental. The camp curriculum includes classroom instruction, laboratory demonstrations and experiments, career guidance, and a variety of other interesting and fun academic activities. All instruction is done by Bucknell University professors.


High school students entering grades 11 or 12 who have completed at least 1 year of high school chemistry by July 2018 are eligible for the camp. High school students who are looking to pursue a career in chemistry are encouraged to apply. In order to provide an optimal learning experience, enrollment for the camp is limited to 20 students. Acceptance is based on review of the applicant's teacher recommendation and student essays.

Program Cost

The cost for the 2018 camp upon acceptance is $745.

Cost includes: tuition for instruction/materials, housing, all meals, a camp t-shirt, and a department/parent/camper dinner on the last day of camp.

Also, if you decide to apply for admission to Bucknell University after attending Chemistry Camp, your application fee will be waived.

Housing & Meals

Students are housed in residence halls on the Bucknell campus with 24/7 supervision by camp counselors. Students' meals are provided by Bucknell Dining Services.

Residential Activities

There are various activities including sports and friendly academic competitions. All activities are supervised.

Benefits of Participation

This summer program is designed to prepare students for the college experience, with seminars by University professors, guest lectures from chemists working in the industry, instructional demonstrations, hands-on experience in the laboratories, and the opportunity to meet other students with similar interests.
