The DCDS Advisory Board, composed of engaged alumni, parents and donors, helps shape the center's strategic direction and build out its off-campus network. The board is a critical partner in our success, as their guidance ensures the center remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving fields of data science and AI.
Advisory Board
Ken Baron brings over 20 years of experience at the intersection of finance, data science and quantitative investment management. Most recently, he has led a team at a quantitative hedge fund that applied machine learning and statistical modeling to develop predictive models for equity investing. Ken holds a bachelor of arts in mathematics from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in statistics from Stanford University. He is the co-author of "Parimutuel Applications in Finance," a mathematical finance book.
Jim Bolognese '74 received his bachelor of science in math from Bucknell and his master's in statistics from University of Florida. He spent 33 years as a biostatistician at Merck with positions supporting research projects across a wide range of therapeutic areas in all phases of drug development: pre-clinical, clinical pharmacology, late phase projects, outcomes trials and biomarker development. Since retiring from Merck in 2008, Jim continues to work part-time at Cytel Inc. consulting on statistical software design and on drug development project & protocol design for biotech companies. Jim has researched and published on adaptive dose-finding clinical trial designs since the 1980s and has coauthored over 100 papers in the biostatistics and medical research literature. He was awarded Fellow of American Statistical Association in 2017.
Born and raised in southern Massachusetts, Chris graduated from Bucknell in 2000 with a bachelor of science in computer science (and also met the requirements for a bachelor of arts in history). Having spent his entire career in cybersecurity, he is now the Vice President of Product Management for the managed services business of Sophos, a global cybersecurity company. He currently resides in the Boston area with his wife Molly '01, two daughters and a big dog. Outside of work, he enjoys flying as a private pilot, playing the guitar and following New England sports teams.
David DiCicco is the co-founder of a healthcare market research consultancy specializing in qualitative and quantitative insights for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. With over 17 years of experience moderating interviews with physicians, patients and other key stakeholders, he translates complex, nuanced data into actionable strategy. He holds a bachelor of arts from Bucknell University and a master's degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania. David brings a human-centered, interdisciplinary lens to data science, and is focused on its role in ethical innovation and informed decision-making.
Doug Llewellyn, the CEO of Data Society Group, a pioneering platform that empowers companies to harness the full potential of data and AI, is a seasoned leader in the business information sector. With a proven track record of delivering exceptional business value and maximizing investor returns, Doug has joined forces with Growth Catalyst Partners to create a new platform dedicated to advancing data leadership and fostering data-driven organizations. His people-centric approach to driving results has led multiple companies to successful exits, even amidst challenging market conditions. By cultivating a company culture where employees are deeply invested in the company's mission, Doug ensures alignment among employees, customers and investors. Doug holds a bachelor of arts in economics and French from Bucknell University.
As global lead of strategic accounts at AlgoVerde, Lauren Moores helps clients translate complex business needs into AI-powered solutions, shaping both the strategic use and development of AlgoVerde's integrated generative AI platform. She brings deep experience building data science teams across biotech, agritech and adtech, and continues to advise startups on scaling through data innovation. Lauren is currently an advisor to Ultimate Medicine, a biotech company developing novel treatments for cognitive decline. An innovator with eight patents in data technology, she also collaborates with Harvard's D³ Institute on content design. Lauren holds a Ph.D. in economics from Brown University and graduated with a bachelor of arts in economics and French from Bucknell.
Jin joined Frazier Healthcare Partners in November 2021, bringing over 10 years of experience in data science and analytics, with a focus on healthcare in the payer and provider business. Prior to joining Frazier, Jin was the director of data science at Healthgrades, one of the first comprehensive physician rating and comparison tools made available to consumers. Jin focused on the building and implementation of analytical models around provider network management that feed into Healthgrades' Provider Relationship Management product. She has also worked as a principical data scientist at Verizon and a data scientist at Capital BlueCross. Jin earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from Bucknell University and an master's in predictive analytics from Northwestern University.
JoAnn Patrick-Ezzell is a trailblazer and innovator with over 35 years of international management experience and extensive technology expertise. She held many roles at AT&T and other companies, including serving as president & CEO of AT&T Asia/Pacific. She currently serves as chair of the Give Something Back International Foundation, driven by a philanthropic passion for education to change lives. Her professional portfolio also includes executive coaching and strategic advisory consulting services. JoAnn holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Bucknell University and, selected as a Sloan Fellow, earned a master's in management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She also completed the International Executive Program at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. JoAnn and her husband, Andrew, reside in Sarasota, Florida. They are life long learners who find joy in cultural experiences, artistic expression, nature, travel and meaningful community activities.
Emmett O. Seaborn, III graduated from Bucknell in 1982 with a bachelor of arts in economics and Spanish. He lived and studied in Madrid junior year with Middlebury College and received an MBA in finance from the Stern School of Business at NYU. He and his wife Donna have four children, including three Bucknellians. He recently retired as managing director from Willis Towers Watson after a 37-year career there. During that time, he led the global Total Rewards group, which employed workforce and HR program data analytics to optimize HR program portfolio design and delivery. Emmett is a member of the Bucknell University Alumni Advisory Board, currently coordinating with the DCDS on a student-led alumni research project.
