The new Russia which emerged from ruins of the Soviet Union, once again has become an important player in the political, economic and cultural arenas.
Several years ago, a group of poets and writers led a political demonstration in Russia — that’s how much language matters in Russian society. As a student in this program, you’ll come to understand Russia’s culture and society and the life experiences of its people.
We offer four levels of language study, along with courses in business Russian, history, film, theatre, literature and politics. You'll be ready to work in Russia and with Russian businesses, head off to grad school, teach and more.
Knowledge of the Russian language and culture will help students to take full advantage of opportunities which the New Russia offers.
The program offers two minors — one in Russian language, the other in Russian studies.
Selected students may choose to participate in the Honors Program in Russian, completing an honors thesis in their senior year.
Many students combine their major in Russian with one in English, comparative humanities, linguistics, music or international relations.
