Poetry Path

Take a walk through historic downtown Lewisburg and Bucknell University and experience poetry along the way. Visitors to the Poetry Path will have the chance to read and hear recordings of poems by living poets, recited in the poets’ own voices. Each of the 10 markers along the path features a poem chosen for its thematic resonance with a culturally significant Lewisburg locale.

Opened in August 2012, the Poetry Path is a project of the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts. In keeping with the center’s mission, the Poetry Path seeks to make contemporary poetry a part of people’s everyday lives.

The Poetry Path is wheelchair accessible and open year-round. Support and funding for the Poetry Path comes from the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts and the Presidential Arts Initiative.

Poetry Path Tours

For information on touring the path or scheduling a formal tour with a Stadler Center staff member, please contact us by email.

stadlercenter@bucknell.edu

In your email, indicate the number in your group and the desired date and time of the tour. In order to accommodate the request, we require at least one week’s advance notice.

For planning purposes, please note that the Poetry Path includes a site at Kidsburg Playground, with a poem selected with younger children in mind. Most of the poems on the Poetry Path, however, are geared toward older children, teens and adults.

The tour of the Poetry Path takes approximately 1.5 hours. A tour of the Poetry Path and Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts, together, takes approximately 2 hours, including time for a Q&A session.

We are happy to staff tours for individuals or groups of any size (including school field trips and University classes).
