The Morrow Farm at Bucknell University
The Morrow Farm Bucknell University is guided by a comprehensive strategic plan that is intended to expand its impact and elevate the student experience.
Vision
The Morrow Farm at Bucknell University will serve as a model educational farm, supporting interdisciplinary, hands-on learning and leadership development while promoting sustainability, health, well-being and belonging.
Purpose
The Morrow Farm employs year-round regenerative agricultural practices to promote transformative educational opportunities, produce abundant nutritious foods, and foster student health and well-being. The farm strives to be a welcoming and inclusive space where students, faculty, staff and community members collaborate through active, hands-on learning, cultivating tomorrow’s leaders for a more just and resilient food system.
Values
At the heart of everything we do is the belief that farming in harmony with ecological principles can yield abundant, nutritious food while improving the health of people and the planet. The regenerative agricultural practices we follow have been developed over millennia by Indigenous communities around the world. Our values are shaped by Indigenous perspectives.

History
Established in 2018, the farm builds on the success of the Lewisburg Community Garden, a collaboration between the University and Lewisburg Borough that addresses local food insecurity by growing organic produce for a nearby hot-meal program.

Sustainable Food Production
In addition to being an educational space, student farmers and volunteers grow over 7,000 pounds of produce for B-Eats and the Union-Snyder Food Hub, providing free food for those who need it. The Morrow Farm staff are also working with Bucknell Dining to include farm produce in the dining spaces on campus in the future, with the goal of replacing some produce trucked in from afar with organic fruits and vegetables grown right on campus.
Features
The farm is still in development, but it currently includes:
- Vegetable beds
- Hoophouse for winter vegetable production
- Fire pit and gathering space (gift of the Class of 2020)
- Pollinator garden
- Labyrinth for meditation
- Orchard
- Food forest (native, food-bearing trees)
- Small-scale compost site
