Selecting Your First-semester Courses

To sign up for first-semester courses, College of Engineering students are required to complete the steps below.

If you have questions during the process, contact Associate Dean Norton at fyengineer@bucknell.edu. You can ask your questions by email or schedule a phone call/video conference.

NOTE: Reading and watching the videos is required; emailing Associate Dean Norton is optional and is to be used to address specific questions not covered in the text or videos.

Step 4: Learn About Courses

These are the courses that will be available to you in your first semester. They can be found on the Course Information for First-year Students page.

Step 5: Review the Requirements

Review the University's general requirements so you know what to expect throughout your academic career. If you indicated on your application that you are interested in a particular major, become familiar with that program in the University course catalog.

Be sure to use the Course Information for First-year Students page to select your courses — not the course catalog.

Step 6: Connect With Your Garman Guide

Each engineering student has been paired with a Garman Guide, an older engineering student who has been selected to be a peer mentor.

Your assigned Garman Guide is available to answer general questions throughout your first year. In May or June, you will receive a welcome email from your assigned Garman Guide.

Step 7: Select Your Courses

It's now time to complete the online registration for your courses! Here is a step-by-step guide of what you will see on this form.
