Cynthia Fell Internship at the Bucknell University Press
Bucknell University Press has been publishing books for specialists and general readers since 1968. We offer the Cynthia Fell Internship, a competitive, yearlong internship for sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in learning about the business of book publishing. Interns at BUP work as part of a small, collaborative team comprised of a director, managing editor, editorial assistant, and a graduate student assistant, and will be exposed to many aspects of the scholarly book publishing process.
Named for the late Cynthia Fell (1932–1994), associate director of BUP from 1968–1990, the internship is open to students in any major, and requires 4–6 hours of work per week. Students who choose the for-credit option will earn one non-traditional study course credit for successful completion of the program. We also offer a non-credit-bearing, paid option.
If taking the internship for course credit, students will be expected to complete an academic or creative project for evaluation during the year. This can be in the form of an original study or essay, or a particular editorial or design contribution that engages in some way with a current topic or issue relevant to BUP and or the scholarly publishing enterprise more generally.
Applicants will be required to provide a cover letter, resume, and the names of three references (professors and/or previous employers or supervisors) by early March for the following academic year. For specific application information and deadlines, contact: universitypress@bucknell.edu
