Malesardi Arts & Sciences Merit Scholarship Program
($40,000 annually)
Among Bucknell's most prestigious scholarships, the Malesardi Arts & Sciences Scholars Program recognizes high-achieving, intellectually curious students majoring within the College of Arts & Sciences. Recipients will encounter unique opportunities to deepen their academic experience in and out of the classroom.
Financial Need is not a requirement, and recipients will be notified along with their admissions decision.
The Malesardi Arts & Sciences Scholars Program is named in recognition of Robert Malesardi '45, P'75, P'79, P'87, G'08 and Doris Fischer Malesardi for their generous philanthropic support of Bucknell's scholarship programs, including the endowment for this signature academic merit scholarship for the College of Arts & Sciences.
The Award
- A $40,000 annual merit scholarship.
- An annual scholarly project allowance of up to $2,400.
- A $3,000 fund to be used for professional and/or intellectual endeavors as a Malesardi Scholar.
- Access to cohort-based activities that include professional development, intellectual and social activities in addition to ongoing mentorship.
How to Apply
- Complete your Common Application or Coalition Application by:
- Nov. 1 for Early Decision I
- Jan. 10 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision.
- There is no additional application required for this scholarship.
Recipient Participation Expectations
This scholarship is renewable annually if the participation expectations outlined below are met. Merit Scholarship awards do not increase in subsequent years.
- Major within the College of Arts & Sciences.*
- Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA (overall and within the College of Arts & Sciences).
- Maintain full-time enrollment.
- Commit approximately six to eight hours per week to a scholarly project.
- Attend weekly meetings with other Malesardi Scholars.
- Participate in all program meetings, activities and expectations as outlined by the faculty lead.
*Unless a transfer to another Bucknell college and its merit scholarship program is approved by the Dean's Office of that college.
Participation in cohort-based activities is strongly encouraged.
