Gamgort Family Gateway Scholars Program

The Bucknell Gamgort Family Gateway Scholars Program is one of five signature programs supported by the Center for Access and Success. The program offers significant financial aid support to high-achieving, highly qualified first-generation college students who face multiple social and economic barriers to their success in college, despite their high level of preparation. The program recognizes the grit and resilience that are typical of first-generation college students. The program enrolls 20 first-year students per academic year, who will have their demonstrated financial need met without the inclusion of federal loans in their aid packages.

Bucknell's first-generation students are highly qualified for admission and bring exceptional academic and personal achievements that contribute to the University's increased selectivity. Recruiting and supporting first-generation students is not about altering the racial or ethnic makeup of the student body, but about recognizing students whose admission reflects resilience, determination and the ability to excel without the built-in advantages of college-going family members. Investing in their success strengthens the entire campus community.
